Why do you write fiction?
It gives free rein to the imagination and offers comforting escapism.
Please tell us about your book. What ideas or images inspired this novel?
I was greatly inspired by the French Surrealist novel, The Girl Beneath the Lion, by André Pieyre de Mandiargues, which portrayed a young girl orchestrating her own prime seduction ritual. It gave me the idea of intelligent, sensitive people organizing seduction scenarios.
Do you have an ideal reader in mind when you write? If so, please describe that reader.
I would like that reader to be intelligent, articulate and critical.
Please describe your writing routine.
It is mechanical to some degree. I have to organize writing slots to integrate with other working routines.
What advice do you give new writers just starting out?
Read plenty, be sensitive to criticism. Be prepared to act responsively and positively in the face of adverse criticism. Persevere.
More about Dreamtime Sensuality:
Romona, highly literary and highly inhibited, goes to an exotic island location. She deeply desires a passionate encounter. At the Pension where she stays, she meets Stefano, who fulfills her requirements exactly.
The proprietress of the Pension picks up on Romona’s shyness, and gives her reassurance, including some practice in the art of kissing. Romona orchestrates an elaborate beach seduction scenario, and they are both fulfilled. They never meet again, but their exchange of emails and text messages goes on indefinitely.
