Welcome romance author, Kristin Wallace.
Why do you write?
I write because there are too many voices in my head, and they must be put on paper. I just love creating stories and different lives.
Please tell us about your book. What ideas or images inspired this novel?
This book was part of a holiday box set with 13 other authors. We all write sweet romance. My book, By Christmas, is the fourth in a series set in a fictional southern town called Covington Falls, Georgia. My heroine is a jilted bride who has endured a year of tea and sympathy from well-meaning family and friends. She wants to escape and start over, but before she can leave town, her father falls ill. She has to stay and help run the town’s Christmas festivities. Help arrives, which is great. Except that help comes in the form of her former fiancé’s brother.
Do you have an ideal reader in mind when you write? If so, please describe that reader.
My readers want romance without the explicit sexual content. I write inspirational romance so my books have an element of spiritual growth. I tell stories that are uplifting and filled with hope and forgiveness.
Please describe your writing routine.
I write whenever I can. I have a demanding full-time job so it tends to be weekends, and if I can manage to sit down in front of the computer again, sometimes at night.
What advice do you give new writers just starting out?
Finish the book! Even if it’s terrible (and your first book probably will be terrible) finish it. You might end up shoving it under the bed but at least you know you can finish. Then once it is finished, do something with it. I know plenty of writers who simply fix and edit a book to death. At some point you have to cut the apron strings and send your baby out into the world.
More about By Christmas:
Jilted bride, Noelle Robinson, planned to leave town and skip the holidays. A family crisis changes everything, and now she’s out to save the family business and Christmas for Covington Falls. Soon she’s dealing with parades, a cantankerous ass (the animal kind) and negotiating disputes with Santa’s elves. But it’s Michael Campbell, the brother of the man who shattered her dreams, who is threatening to disrupt her peace on earth . . . and claim her heart.
